We are looking for someone to inspire and guide our brass and orchestra students in their artistic development

Who are we?

The Cultural School in Norrköping is seeking a brass teacher with trombone or tuba as the main instrument for a permanent position at 80%. We are a creative and pleasant workplace with a wide range of courses in art, dance, theater, film, and music for children and young people during their leisure time.

Here you will have the opportunity to be part of a dedicated teaching staff that is passionate about promoting creativity and artistic expression. We have a well-developed ensemble, orchestra, and choir program and offer an extensive range of concerts and performances annually.

We collaborate with primary schools, youth centers, and other stakeholders to reach many children and young people. The courses in brass and orchestra are conducted centrally at the Cultural School and at the municipality's primary schools in facilities adapted for the activities. We also have a close collaboration with the local cultural scene to create an inspiring learning environment.

Your responsibilities

As a brass teacher at the Cultural School, you will work to inspire and guide children and young people aged 6 - 25 in their artistic development.

You will teach brass instruments and orchestra, plan and conduct lessons, and create a creative and stimulating learning environment. You will collaborate with other educators and staff to develop and implement teaching that engages and challenges our students.

You see and use the orchestra and group as central tools in teaching and are curious about developing new teaching methods and approaches.

Teaching is mainly scheduled for afternoons and evenings and takes place both individually and in groups. Weekend work may also occur.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who is creative and inspiring with the ability to motivate and develop individuals, both individually and in groups.

You have a teaching degree from a music academy or equivalent education deemed equivalent by the employer and have experience in pedagogical work with children and young people, as well as good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.

You have a good pedagogical ability to adapt your communication to the person in front of you.

Furthermore, we see that you are responsive in your approach, developing positive relationships with both students and colleagues. In collaboration with others, you contribute a positive attitude and actively share knowledge and information with the team to achieve common goals.

The operation is dynamic, and we see that you can handle changes that may occur during the workday. You remain flexible and prioritize when needs arise.

We would like you to have experience teaching larger groups and younger ages. If you have experience in conducting and long-term artistic pedagogical repertoire planning for wind orchestras, we consider it a plus.

For this position, presenting a valid extract from the police criminal record is a prerequisite for employment.
